Description

Resolution authorizing the mayor to execute an agreement with Snyder & Associates, Inc. for engineering services in connection with the Gifford Road Reconstruction, Phase 1. Project # PW23-10

Background/Discussion

Phase 1 will reconstruct Gifford Road/S. 35th Street from Veterans Memorial Highway to 55th Avenue.  The road is constructed with a thin asphalt roadway and no curbs or storm sewer.  It was used as the main haul road from Veterans Memorial Highway to the south for three large levee projects along the Missouri River.  The levee projects are now complete, but the road was left in poor condition. Gifford Road/S. 35th Street also provides access to the Fox Run development.    

 

The project was included in the FY23 CIP with funding from Road Use funds.  The preliminary project budget is $500,000.

 

Snyder & Associates, Inc. was selected from the pre-qualified list of engineers because of their previous successful history with similar projects and the qualified staff available to dedicate to the project.   

 

Recommendation

Approval of this resolution to enter into an agreement with Snyder & Associates, Inc. for engineering services.
